a habit can not quit
ex) I have an addiction to TV. I watch it for at least 5 hours everyday after work.
- addictive(adj)
to describe the thing that you can't quit

easy for you to remember this thing.
- forgetful(adj)
Don't easily remember something.
- pager/beeper
pre cell phone technology, someone would sent you a message, and you had to find a pay phone to call then back.
- drug(n)
any substance.chemical that affects the way your mind and body work.
ex) hard drugs - serious, addictive, and usually created drugs like cocaine, heroin, etc
soft drugs - more natural things that can't kill you like marijuana, etc
- scales(n)
the type of skin on a lizard or a snake, it's not soft like on people. It's hard or sharp
- habit(n)/habitually(adj)
something a person does naturally or without thinking. can be a good habit or can be a bed habit.
ex) Using my cell phone is a habit. I don't even think about it, I just open my phone and go on Instagram.
- cut down on
to slowly quit something. over time you gradually do something less and less until eventually it's done.
ex) I'm addicted to coffee, so I have to cut down on it. Now i drink 3 cups a day, but I want to drink only 1.
- cold turkey
to quit something suddenly. you don't cut down on it you just stop one day.
ex) I quit Facebook cold turkey. I was using it too much, so i deleted my account and the app.
- out of sight, out of mine
if you don't see something, you won't think about it.
ex) I ate half a chocolate bar, and I didn't want to eat anymore, so I put it in the fridge. Out of sight, out of mind.
- relieve(v)/relief(n)
to get rid of a bad feeling/emotion like anger, stress, fear, sadness, etc.
ex) I'm addicted to eating spicy food. It helps me to relieve stress.
ex) I think having a pet is really good for stress relief. They can be good company or you can get exercise by waking them.
- take your mind off of something
to focus on a new thing to forget a problem or stress.
ex) when I'm stressed I do yoga to take my mind off of the problem.
ex) Listening to music takes my mind off of my stress. I always feel better after.
